INTHESHIT interview

INTHESHIT is a grindcore band hailing from Boston, MA that has arguably put out some of the best DIY releases on the east coast for some time now. We're beyond stoked to help the band release 'Born To Kill' on cassette. 4 seriously punishing tracks in under 10 minutes has the band really coming into their own. We asked John of ITS a few questions regarding the bands new material and upcoming releases. Check it out:

Having been a band for a handful of years now, do you think you're really hitting your stride now?

I think some of the hard work is paying off. It seems like things really came together with the addition of 2 new members. We're only gonna keep getting better, faster, and putting the sickest music we can and try to spread it out to as many people who will listen.

How does being a newly formed 5 piece band now affect your writing ability?

Being a 5 piece has really made writing easy. Someone comes up with an idea or song, brings it to the group and we tweak it and work on it together. Having 2 guitar players now, Eric and Seth feed off each other and the final product is something we all helped add to create. I think this new material is some of the best this band has ever written.

How has the Boston DIY scene changed over the last year or so, and how has that affected Intheshit?

The DIY scene in boston always has it ups and downs. Right now and in the past few years its been down. The cops have really started cracking down on DIY venues. Some had a good run and every once and awhile you'll hear of a new place doing a show once or twice, but most are gone. As far as it affected us, we just hate playing bars if we can avoid it, so we try to play any diy spot once before the cops shut it down. DIY spaces always just have a better vibe and people seem to have more fun.

What do you guys have planned in the near future?

As far as the future we have a bunch of new songs we've already started recording, so expect some new records coming out this year. Trying to play out and tour as much as possible. We have a weekend in april, planning another one for end june and try to do like a week or two in September/October. But may 10th we get to go down to North Carolina to play with our good friends Man will Destroy Himself for their reunion show, stoked for that. We have a split with Godstomper and Eyes for Hands in the works, so staying busy.

I just wanted say thanks again for the support and making some of the best tapes I've ever heard. (Not just the one you did for us)

Thanks
John
